#ICouldHaveBeen

When parents are expecting a child, they think
of various names.
We all have a girl’s name that was destined for us.

Your name may be James, but you could have been Chiara. We all could have been HER: the 1 in 3 girls and women worldwide who experience violence.

Enter the GIRL’S NAME your parents would have given you if you were born a girl.
Or if you are a girl, enter the word HER in solidarity with survivors of violence.

Enter HER or
girl's name here…

#ICouldHaveBeen

Running from 20 to 25 November, the Kering Foundation's 6th edition White Ribbon For Women campaign seeks to bring attention to violence against girls and women. Via #ICouldHaveBeen, the Kering Foundation calls on you to imagine your lives as HER; the 1 in 3 girls and women who are victims of violence. Although one can not understand what survivors experience without having lived through violence ourselves, I Could Have Been aims to draw attention to the higher risk of violence girls and women face - simply for being born female.

Those of you not born a girl are asked to imagine who you could have been by entering a girl’s name on the homepage – be it the name your parents would have given you if you were born a girl, or the name of a sister, mother, or friend - and share who you could have been across social media. Similarly, if you were born a girl enter the word "Her" as your name and challenge males around you to join the campaign and unveil who they could have been.

We could all have been a girl.
We could all have been a victim of violence.
You may have been born as Ahmed, James, or Li Wei but you could you been born as Amira, Olivia or Li Na.
